Celebrated a friend’s birthday Friday night and checked out Ann Arbor Distilling Company for the first time. All of the drinks we had were A-MAZING. I had a dirty gin martini and moscow mule and will definitely get them again….after I try all of the other drinks of course. I also had a sip of the corpse reviver and annie’e eyes and was impressed.
The A2 distillery applies the “slow food” philosophy to their drink menu as all of the spirits served are distilled there on site and additional ingredients are locally sourced. The place had a pleasant, relaxed ambiance and friendly, knowledgeable bartenders.
After drinks we headed downtown to Frita Batidos for some delicious cuban-inspired grub. We got seats along the window-bar facing the street that provided excellent people watching. Friday night entertainment at it’s finest. A delicious vegan option at Frita’s is there loaded plantains, just ask for them to be made vegan. It’s A LOT of food and could easily be split with another person or boxed up for later. It tastes just as good the following day. Tried their tequila-ginger-lime tumbler and it was summer in a glass. So refreshing!
Dining out as a vegan in Ann Arbor is hardly a challenge these days. Most restaurants offer at least one vegan option while other restaurants like Seva and The Lunch Room offer a completely vegetarian or vegan (respectively) menu. It’s exciting to see the plant-based movement spread. I am going to start highlighting my vegan dining out experiences and product recommendations on here. My goal is to expose both my vegan and omnivore readers to great restaurants and products.
Last but least, we headed to The Bar at 327 Braun Court to cap the night with another round of craft cocktails and my friend opened her gifts. The Bar at 327 Braun Court is by far one of Ann Arbor’s best bars and a personal favorite. It’s a cozy, dimly lit, quirky neighborhood bar that makes creative, modern and classic cocktails. Not into cocktails? No worries because they also have a great selection of beer. They also serve food and there is a vegan option (!!!) on the menu, Vegan Chili Fries. The vibe is like no other in Ann Arbor, the staff are super-friendly, and it’s never too loud. One of my biggest pet-peeves at a bar is not being able to hear the people in my group and that is never an issue here. If you haven’t already, check it out, and thank me later 🙂
Hope you are enjoying your weekend adventures.
